𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐥𝐥 – 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐖𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐭 𝐓𝐨 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐨𝐤 𝐖𝐚𝐧!
The day was set out to be entertaining, informative and fashion-packed! The day comprised of a glass of bubbles on reception, a chance to browse and explore Gok’s retail ‘Dreamspace’, a delicious two-course brunch, a trends & lingerie masterclass, Gok’s ‘Access All Areas’ Q&A, a makeover for one lucky audience member, hair and beauty mini-makeovers for selected audience members & a goody bag to take home. All this and lots of laughs as you can imagine!
So, a little bit about our stylists involved in the show…
Chelsea…
Chelsea is no stranger to show work, you may have seen her work at the Julien Macdonald fashion show for the opening of Debenhams in Newport’s Friars Walk Shopping Centre. She’s also one of our top Bridal Hair Specialists, her work showers our social media and she gets booked up in advance. She is a Great Lengths Hair Extensions specialist and is a hugely creative individual. Not everyone knows, but Chelsea directs and constructs our shop window for each season…so when you’re driving down Crwys Road and our Pride rainbow window catches your eye, it’s all down to Chelsea’s creative flair and imagination!
Leonie…
Whilst Leonie is our youngest stylist, she is more experienced than most, having styled her sister’s afro hair from a young age, her passion for hairdressing has driven her success. She won the QSA Hairdressing Apprentice of The Year Award earlier this year, for her amazing people skills and hairdressing talent. She works alongside Simon within the delicate field of wigs and Leonie is trained in the latest trend, Nano Hair Extensions, which is a new hair extensions service that we offer. Leonie recently took inspiration when she visited Goldwell‘s Color Zoom competition in Vienna this September, and is keen to compete next year…so, watch this space!
Strutting their stuff on the catwalk…
Our stylists had oodles of fun on the day and loved creating simple, stylish but glamorous hairstyles for the catwalk shows. The brief was to create styles that would take their models from day to night outfits…and even bridal!
Gok loves supporting the local boutiques and businesses – all catwalk outfits were from local boutiques and shops – Chic Happens, Next, Live Unlimited, ASOS, Goose Island, H&M, M&S, and Cariad Bridal were all present at this fantastic Cardiff event.
There was a great array of models to work with – rather fitting to the show’s title ‘One Size Fits All’. The girls enjoyed working with different hair types, making each model a different challenge and they definitely rose to the challenge! Just see for yourself…
Chelsea and Leonie were also given the opportunity to demonstrate mini-makeovers to some lucky audience members along with two fantastic local makeup artists Carodime Heaven and Makeup by Eden.
Leonie worked with natural curls, twisting the hair to one side and using a ghd wand to define some of the natural curls for extra style.
Chelsea transformed her lucky lady, smoothing and curling her hair with ghd straighteners. Gok was completely shocked that it was the same person and it just shows how much this simple styling trick can turn your look around.
Our stylists loved working on this show and working with Gok Wan who was so friendly and down-to-earth whilst still being the professional style guru that we all know and love!
